深圳大学海洋艺术研究中心为中国首家以海洋艺术为核心的研究机构，承担了国家文化部、国家教育部、国家艺术基金等委托的多项关于海洋艺术的研究课题，出版多部专著，是国内极具权威的海洋艺术研究智库。
为配合国家“一带一路”倡议，弘扬民族文化，传承中国海洋文化，推动民族艺术的伟大复兴，打造海洋文化艺术于未来。深圳大学海洋艺术研究中心以“抢救式的修复，创造性的填补”为使命，矢志对中国的海洋绘画艺术进行梳理，通过古今海洋题材绘画的研究与解读，来弥补过去失去的并创造当今时代的海洋绘画艺术，拓宽中国海洋文化艺术研究的范式样本，填补我国在海洋艺术创作和历史文献上的多项空白，为国家海洋文化研究提供了珍贵文献和学术支持，为未来海洋战略研究提供历史借鉴，是我国在世界海图和海洋绘画艺术研究领域的重要科研机构，努力成为国民了解世界海战历史和海洋文化艺术的窗口，为我国海洋发展提供详实的素材和坚固的后盾。
研究中心在未来建设和研究领域将继往开来，未雨绸缪，建设中外海洋艺术和海战绘画国际化数据库；培养新一代海洋艺术创造者；通过举办海洋绘画展、海图展、船模展、历史文献展、海洋文化艺术教育培训、编制海洋文化历史书籍等形式，多方面推动海洋知识创新和全民的海洋文化认知，提高国民海洋意识，增加文化自信；构建起海洋文化艺术学术机构和高等院校的学术交流平台，增强海洋文化艺术研究的协调和多样性，为国家通过海洋文化艺术面向世界讲述中国故事，重视海洋文明开辟崭新的道路，成为中国海洋艺术和世界海洋艺术发展的桥梁。
Ocean Art Research Center of Shenzhen University is the first research institute in China that focuses on marine art, which has attracted attention and care from leaders of the party and state. It has undertaken research projects on marine arts from the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, China National Arts Fund and so forth. In addition, it has published many monographs, which makes the center the most authoritative marine art research think tank in China.
In line with the national "Belt and Road" initiative, the center is dedicated to promoting the heritage of Chinese marine culture, promoting the great revival of national art, and creating the future of Chinese marine culture and art. Through sorting out China's marine paintings, the center is able to provide a lot of precious literature and academic support for the future marine strategy, making itself an important research institute of China in the field of world charts and marine paintings, a window through which the Chinese people can get to know world sea war history and marine culture & art, and provide detailed material and solid backing for the development of Chinese marine cause.
In the future, the center will construct the international database of Chinese and foreign marine art and sea war paintings; cultivate new generations of marine art creators; promote marine knowledge innovation and national marine culture cognition as well as increase national cultural confidence through marine painting exhibitions, sea chart exhibitions, ship model exhibitions, historic literature exhibitions, marine culture and art education and marine culture & art books; build communication platforms for marine culture and art research institutions and academies; enhance the coordination and diversity of marine culture and art research; tell Chinese stories to the world through marine culture and art; and become a bridge connecting Chinese and foreign marine art development.
